This Parrot Tried to Sing a Beyoncé Hit—And Somehow Nailed It

People expected a few funny squawks. What they got instead was a performance that stopped visitors in their tracks.

Chico, a nine-year-old yellow-crowned Amazon parrot living at Lincolnshire Wildlife Park in the Midlands, has become an unexpected little star after videos of him “covering” pop songs began spreading online. One clip in particular—his dramatic take on Beyoncé’s 2008 song “If I Were a Boy”—has viewers replaying it again and again.

According to park staff, Chico has been at the wildlife park for over 18 months and has settled in quickly, getting comfortable around both the other birds and the people who visit. And he’s not a one-song wonder.

His former owner, Julie Gregory, has said Chico also “performs” tunes like Lady Gaga’s “Poker Face,” Gnarls Barkley’s “Crazy,” and Katy Perry’s “Firework.” Whether it’s the timing, the attitude, or the way he seems to commit to every note, fans swear it sounds like he’s putting real emotion into it.

Comments under the videos say it all: people aren’t just amused—they’re completely hooked. One visitor wrote that Chico spoke to them, called himself a “good boy,” and then launched into singing like he was born for an audience.

It’s not an official collaboration—just a talented bird doing a fan-style cover. But for a lot of people, Chico’s performances have been the kind of surprise that genuinely lifts their mood.
